Walla Walla Ferrari TripIt is 12:08 AM as I write this. We drove to Walla Walla yesterday. Barb drove the last leg of the trip and went considerably faster than I did. I shift better but she went faster. Certainly, there are tortures more painful, more able to extract a confession from the strongman than a long drive in a Ferrari. But a long drive in a Ferrari, on a hot day, when the driver cannot figure out the...staying downtown the host hotel being booked by the time I signed up for the trip but at a combo yoga studio and bed and breakfast abou...

I'm doing this right now. It's an incredible program, and I may well finally learn how to use meditation in my daily living. I've been trying to learn this stuff for awhile, but it's hard to do it alone. I wanted a teacher. I'm not facing chronic illness, but I am facing chronic anxiety. The anxiety is part of my chattering mind, the good old "monkey mind" that is depicted on the left side of...part of me too. Monkey mind makes more noise, therefore it receives more attention. Meditation and yoga will perhaps help me get to kno...

1) I realize that I want to be teach yoga until I'm 70 or older. In the dream I think that I need to change what I am doing so that I don't wear my body out. 2) I'm a young single mom and the boys are very young. I have 3 sons in this dream. I am going to be in a play and I can bring the boys with me. That is good. We are out to eat with another person who will be in the play. She need to...

Behind the Screen.I meant to write a post about how far behind I feel crafty-wise. I have crafty swaps to catch up on, Etsy reshipping to take care of (due to my own error in shipping weights), 40th birthdays to catch up on with many of my friends (are we ALL turning 40 this year?), family obligations, legal stuff... And a newfound focus on my own well-being and health... This post is about...of my day---each loop I knit, each circle I hook, each vegetable I chop, each step I take, each yoga position I practice, each breath I...

The last three yoga session have been eye opening for me to introspect on the subject of Toxicity. Our bodies gain plenty of toxins from environment we live in - the food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink. Similarly our minds are polluted by negative and toxic toxic behavior of people. Nature has an amazing way for our mind and body to absorb such toxicity in life and continue to...

The other day, someone said to me, "Oh, I saw your website! The MOMMY one." I cringed and may have rubbed my ear. "Mommy", I thought? Every since I became a mama, I've always been called "mama". My little ones have always called me "mama." Always. Letters to me say, "Dear Mama." Even my own mom will tell the girls, "Go ask your mama." I am not sure why the preference. Could it be...and big houses with three car garages? Could it be that "mama" is a better-fitting suffix to "yoga-", "bikey-", "urban-"? A l...

I attend Terry Peterson's level 3 class last Friday. His quality of teaching is immaculate and he engages you in the best possible way and you don't feel intimidated - especially being the most inexperienced level 3 yogi in class with the least flexibility. Given the tightness of my hamstrings and quads, it is not possible to for me to perform a perfect Supta Virasana. This is a pose that I am...

I was walking along the Metolius river in central Oregon, semi-lost in thought. Which isn't unusual for me. Like most people, I spend a lot of my day focused on what's going on inside my head. That's as far from earth level as my six foot bodily consciousness can rise. Since I've been reading "Tajiquan Theory" in the morning before I meditate, some Taoist lessons came to mind. Breathe. Focus on...grounded in natural reality. I'll end with some Alan Watts. The first element of Chinese Taoist yoga is to stop talking to yourself. Do...

I've thrown just about everything under the bus in this massive financial collapse, including Bend (of course), California, and the U.S. at large. But nothing engenders the vitriol of readers like hucking San Fran under the bus. I'm just curious, Why? Even old farts like Buster, who seem to loathe California, its inhabitants, and all it represents, defends the economic impenetrability of...almost a year, armed with a resume that shows experience as a top manager at such publications as Yoga Journal and Acoustic Guitar maga...
