Of all the stories I've written since coming to Portland, I think this is one of the oddest. It takes familiar Portland memes, such as vehicle-on-vehicle assault, transportation obsession, that simmering rage that's beneath almost all our interactions, and heck, even adds a snip of city bureaucracy. But then it kind of, well, it turns everything 30 degrees towards a Mecca created by Terry Gilliam....

Dear Libertarians, I know that some of you have an obsession with drug legalization, especially when it comes to marijuana. Some of you may be thinking of supporting the Oregon Canabis Tax Act ballot initiative. Don't. Smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom is the libertarian creed. The OCTA violates two of those principles immediately and that's assuming that smoking pot is a "freedom....
