in honor of jesse jackson's offer of free castration to obama, i have found the perfect picture to caption... be creative and have fun! by the way, our last contest was alot of fun with really great captions for the "obama and spaceship." the winners are: 1st place - Bikerdan with "The obamessiah breaths a sigh of relief as the mothership hovers nearby transmitting his every...filed under: jesse jackson, obama

by Bill Steigerwald Belated birthday greetings to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The DEA, which our great moral leader Richard Nixon created in 1973 and charged with the impossible but politically useful mission of winning the "all-out global war on the drug menace," turned 35 on July 1. So, how's its track record after 35 years of difficult, often dangerous drug-war-making? If...marijuana or at least work to humanize America's drug policy. Or that neither McCain nor Obama has promised to scale back a dirty war o...

since his immaculate conception, bloggers have openly mocked the obamessiah for throwing everything and everyone under his short bus -- and we've enjoyed every moment of it of course. this morning as i was reading to catch up on overnight news, i came across this interesting article. it seems there is yet another victim -- his own anti-war left -- set asidein obama's race to the center for your...posted on blatherings in Newberg - 9:32 AM
Nice to see some people kept their heads. This week's New Yorker has a cover by artist Barry Blitt of Michelle and Barack Obama dressed in their native garb, which has apparently offended many in the liberal blogosphere. My first impression on seeing this cover was that the New Yorker had written an exposé revealing that Barack Obama is indeed a Muslim, Michelle Obama was a member of...
I avoid talking about W much, since he's really just a mouthpiece for the interests that back him and put him in power (like every other president, by the way -- Obama is no exception, more on that later). But, this one just got me going and I had to post. This as he was leaving the G8 summit -- President George Bush signed off with a defiant farewell over his refusal to accept global...filed under: climate change, obama

The "Obama for President" and "Merkley for Senate" campaigns opened their joint headquarters on SE Division and kicked off the general election with a party that featured an overflowing potluck, Gov Barbara Roberts and the kind of energy that will elect both of these great candidates. Not surprisingly, Sen Obama was a no-show at the event. Jeff Merkley, too, was unable to appear (I believe he...

I got my new little sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters and this evening was our first outing. We went on a picnic to the Portland Rose Garden and we had a fantastic time. She enjoyed taking pictures and on the way home she was yelling out the window "Vote for Obama!" We will get along just fine....filed under: obama
The cover on this week's New Yorker is causing a bit of a stir. Lefties hated it. Righties hated it. Obama hated it. Satire is always dicey, I guess; you run the risk of offending those who get it and those who don't. Some people are just constitutionally opposed to satire, while others are just humorless. Add to that the high-wire act of bringing Islam and racism into the picture,...posted on BlueOregon - 9:11 PM
First of all, I have regretfully informed the Obama campaign that I will be unable to accept any potential offers for the vice presidency. I did so with a heavy heart, and I remain steadfast in my opinion that Senator Obama will make an outstanding president. As for my own chances, yes, there were more candidates with "experience" and "expertise" and even "knowledge" about "the issues that matter,...
