A few minutes ago I made a small contribution to the campaign of U.S. Congressman John Lewis. Lewis, a hero of the civil rights movement and a towering voice of progressive politics, is now facing a primary challenger upset that Lewis supported Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama. Readers here know that Ive supported Senator Obama since before he even declared for the presidency. But...

Do you remember that scene in Jesus Camp where the kids are offering a prayer to a cardboard stand-up of George Bush? (Youtube link here, if you haven't seen it before.) Well, some Obama supporters have officially creeped me out just as much as that scene in Jesus Camp did by "informally" changing their middle names to "Hussein" to show solidarity with their chosen one candidate: Emily..."manifesto" can be found here and contains such (creepy) pearls of wisdom as: "Like Bill and Hillary Clinton, the Republicans will le...posted on Oregon Commentator Online in Eugene - 11:27 PM
The man needs not to ruin what reputation he has left...not to mention unload that huge-ass chip on his shoulder. "Grit" is the new "Gravitas". It is a word being bandied about by politicos and pundits all at once that was not particularly used before. I remember in 2000 when everyone started using the word "gravitas" — a description of what George W Bush needed in a vice presidency and then a description of Dick Cheney. Where did that word come from? Was it in deep storage until it was plucked...and thrown into our word usage? Yesterday Hillary Clinton, in that fabled "Unity, New Hampshire" where the two candidates received...

Oregon lawmakers working to bring down price of gas - OregonLive.com As the numbers rise, so does the public's anxiety, which is why members of Congress will be working extra hard at home next week to convince constituents of two things: First, your member of Congress is doing everything humanly possible to drive down the cost of fuel. Second, if you're feeling pain, your anger should be directed... all of them, are being more than a bit disingenuous. Outlawing speculation? How is Hillary going to retire her campaign debt witho...

Hillary Clinton joined Barack Obama today in Unity, New Hampshire. Hillary Clinton, as popular as ever, was enthusiastic in her support of Senator Barack Obama. There is no longer any vitriol in Hillary Clinton's words about Barack Obama. Hillary seems to be totally committed in helping Barack Obama win in November. The question still to be answered is, will Bill Clinton jump on board the Obama...

Some gay-rights advocates question Oregon senators commitment - OregonLive.com WASHINGTON — Measured by words spoken, legislation sponsored, events attended and miles traveled, there can be only one conclusion about Sen. Gordon Smith: He loves the gay community. But do gays love him back? More important, do they trust him and will they vote for him? It's a tricky set of questions...they do express support. You only have to look at the savaging that the women that didn't support Hillary. That would be mild compared...
