The Avenue Lofts 1417 NW Hoyt Street The Avenue Lofts are named for the cobblestone street that extends into the building as stone corridor. Built in 1923 as the Meier & Frank Warehouse and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, each loft owner is given a historic tax benefit which allows for more autonomy and versatility. Some of the lofts have 18-foot tall windows and...Friday, May 9th
Last night was a looonnnggg night. My dad wouldn't go to sleep. He kept having hallucinations. We know it is his medication for his legs and for the last two weeks have been trying to find the right dose to take at the right time. As mentioned before, he has Parkinsons. Last night he thought there were people in his bedroom that wouldn't leave, which was making him angry. I took turns...Why was it so awful that Teresa Heinz Kerry choose not release her personal tax returns in '04, but when Cindy McCain makes the same choice, no question. Nobody even asks about her private jet used by her husband while he's campaigning. Some perspective on financial issues related to the upcoming election. Some analysis on the candidate's healthcare proposals. A little extra on...

Excuses, excuses. I would have blogged a lot more yesterday, including that post this morning, if Google's Blogger hadn't bit the dust. They added a new "feature" which, apparently when actually tried by the end users (like me), brought the entire system crashing down. I think I know what happened. For now I like it that way, but it's good to see studies like this to help find and maintain that balance between ad money and reader happiness: Link: The Most Annoying Google AdSense Unit Is: The Large Rectangle. "About 6 weeks ago,...

Since I'm prepping for baby and working like a dog, I have no time to read blogs anymore. Today there were 2000 in there. YIKES. I hit up the usual -- Bend Blogs, LOL Cats and Dooce.com's Daily Chuck but that seems about it. I've started to trim my blog reading list. I don't need those 10 indie rock rss feeds anymore. And all those entertainment blogs -- I'll stick with Perez. All the food ones...

It turned out to be pretty easy to locate the owner of the wallet that the Mrs. found yesterday: 1. Google the address on the ID contained in the wallet. 2. Google Maps handily provides the name of the apartment complex along with a satellite view thereof. 3. Google the apartment complex for its manager's phone number. 4. Call the manager and ask that she alert the wallet owner to contact...

Today began with a nice late morning drinking coffee and hanging out with Mom and Dad. Around lunchtime we headed down to Stoll's Lakeview, my favorite of the Amish Buffet restaurants that populate the area. I ate and ate until I should've felt all bloated and tired, but the food is made from some great ingredients which treated my body like food should. Always one of my favorites. G and I...filed under: google
