Everyone is welcome! The TVTU chapter pot luck picnic will be held at Cook Park (behind Tigard High School) again this year, on July 16 starting at 6 p.m. The picnic will be at Site No. 4 (closest to the river, by the boat dock). As promised, this year there will be an opportunity for chapter members, family and friends to clean out their spare fishing and other household items for sale at the...

All sixteen of the Forgotten Lands -- their entries here on L&TM5K, Cartophiliac's maps, and anything else that might happen to them in the future -- are now indexed here. I know I risk making Syd puke, but I feel I need to write about mayonnaise. Heres a comment that Bayou , a friend and Seattle blogger left the other day when were talking about regional foods that we cant get where we now live. I grew up on "Blue Plate" which is no where to be found on the west coast. It was one of the items that I missed from the south. My mom relayed...peanuts in their content list. In honor of Richard Brautigan who actually ended his book, Trout Fishing in America with the word Mayon...filed under: fishing

Part 1. The Blatherers Tale We have waited. And the ocean has delivered. At last I can stand in the Sellwood Kitchen and declare, It smells like fish in here! Why? Because...campaign since Sorry, Charlie. Anyway, the tilapia (of major importance in artisanal fishing) is also known as St. Pe...filed under: fishing

Ed. note: I have been off in the mountains in pursuit of fish - but I got a chance to check in. I'll be sending pictures of the fishing adventures soon - now that the power is back on. If you enjoy this post, please consider receiving Almost Fit in your inbox. Thanks. As I have mentioned in several places, (IowaAvenue, for one), on Thursday of last week I left my corporate day job in...Tuesday, July 1st
Today was hot in Walla Walla. Barb and I woke up early and had the deck at the B&B to ourselves for several hours. The days Ferrari centric events did not start until 10:45 so there was plenty of time for sitting around, thinking and writing the paragraphs I wrote prior to this one. As I mentioned earlier we were headed to Woodward Canyon Winery for lunch. Rick Small, owner of Woodward...for Ferraris. Feel free to substitute the word Ferrari for any other. Wine, music, skiing, fly fishing. I am not willing to invest the...filed under: fishing

Recently my friend Brooke had an appointment for annual health care for her 8 horses and mules, so we hauled Lucky and Lacey out to her place for their vet checks and annual care, which includes floating the teeth. Yikes. This is quite the operation. First the horse is sedated until the knees start to buckle, then they are fitted with this contraption. And yes, it's called a speculum. Then...produce too. Freckles has an old rope she loves to play with in the yard. It was used on a fishing boat so it stinks, at least t...posted on Nancy Lynne Photography in Toledo - 11:46 AM
Can you guess where this is? Here are some hints - you walk across a bridge over the Clackamas River to get there, it's owned by Portland General Electric and it's open year-round for trout fishing. Oh... and if you've been there, the fence should be a dead giveaway. Bookmark It Hide...

Looking for a sunny place to go camping this summer? You might want to check out The Cove Palisades State Park on Lake Billy Chinook. It's a quick shot over the mountain to Madras, then you hang a right, and soon you will be sipping a cold one on the shores of a nice desert lake. The sky is usually blue out there even when we are getting dumped on in the Portland area. Columnar basalt...walls versus 3000+ in Hells Canyon. My buddy towed his boat over, so we had two nice days of fishing. The lake is filled with smallmout...
Despite the climbing temperature, the Middle Fork Willamette remained stable on Saturday as I floated from the Guard rail launch in Oakridge to Black canyon. The river level has since risen sharply and has probably adversely affected the fishing and definitely has made floating les enjoyable. Levels are still very high for productive bank fishing in the Oakridge area. The day started with a few...filed under: fishing, willamette
