My eyes are bad and they've been bad for a long time. I don't see that well. I don't see real bad, but, I don't see well. Many years ago I had my eyes checked at a downtown Corvallis location and got glasses. The glasses were horrendously ground and refracted one light into a dozen. Same thing in rain. They were not only unusable, but they were dangerous to wear if driving at night or...

I am unable to get medical care from my doctor for a post that I've since deleted. They have dropped me as a patient for the blog post and offered to refer me to other doctors in the area. I hung up on the nice lady knowing this *FREE* country is, well, maybe not so free. I'll try my old doctor's office back. I had no problems with them except that the doctor actually moved out of state and...

Last week, Ward 5 City Councilor Mike Beilstein left with the Pastors for Peace group on his third trip to Cuba to spread humanitarian aid there. According to Beilstein and the group, they flaunt the U.S. travel embargo as a way to draw attention to the struggles of the Cuban people and the problems caused by a U.S. blockade of the country. Some of you have been asking who's paying for the...

Today, four cats are up being fixed. Two come from a duplex in Corvallis. These folks are moving. The woman has been accepted into medical school. They have found a home for the blue male, but not for the gray tabby female, who is the blue male's mother, from her first litter. Her second litter, six girls now six weeks of age, are also in the duplex and they plan to take them to Heartland....

We had breakfast/brunch at Broken Yolk Cafe this morning at 10:30AM. The waitress kind of tripped and spilled a glass of ice water on the six year old. Well.... that didn't go over so great. She wasn't so much offended as she was embarrassed by being the center of attention in the whole place. Yes. She had every right to cry. She needed to be held by mom and it took a while to recover. The...years or so. They now live in Port Angeles, Washington. They are thinking about moving back to Corvallis soon. He has Parkinson's D...

Famers' Market SoundsCorvallis has a great Farmers' Market and we try to go every Saturday. They block off 1st street by the river (view from above) and a few city blocks are filled with local vendors selling food. Here's what walking through the farmer's market sounded like yesterday: [embedded MP3 at site] If you listen you can hear a guy playing a didgeridoo, kids screaming as they run through...
