They're looking for a few shorts that showcase, "what you love, what you cherish, what makes Portland special for you." I know there are many...

DSCN4516.JPG Originally uploaded by dieselboi With the Steel Bridge closed and high gas prices, tons of people are taking to the sidewalks and walking or biking to get downtown. I'm one of them and am enjoying it. Over the past two weeks, I have enjoyed the little walk and love that so many Portlanders are joining in. But the bikers gotta figure it out that they are not that...

I've wanted to get some exercise and have considered riding my bike again. But I'm a wuss about it. Bikes and me don't seem to mix. I've had some major wipeouts. They hurt. I don't want more pain. In Corvallis, I had to quit riding my bike after the neck injury I got when beaten on that psyche ward. Tilting my head up slightly, as one must do on most bikes to see, doesn't cut it with...
I'm putting this post in my blog's "humor" category because Harley Davidson motorcycle riders take their bikes pretty damn seriously, and I don't want to tick off any of the brothers or sisters. Anyway, I used to have a motorcycle myself a Yamaha Seca II until my old lady (what I called my wife during the period I owned a bike, which helps to explain why I no longer have it) told me...
"In the 34 years since I first came to China, change has been one of the constants. Peking is now Beijing. The bicycles that used to dominate the roads have given way to more cars." -President George H. W. Bush Why is the former President Bush so enlightened to see cars are dominating the roads over bicyclists...

Yesterday, we took the kids, their bikes, their helmets, and only one bottle of water down to the middle school. We were looking for some fun in the shade. And, we almost found it. Of course, I reminded the kids to use our clean toilet before we left home with an aire of "do as I say, not as I do(n't)". So, again with my bladder. I was quickly in need of relief. Herbie pointed out the bushes....
