a PRIZE. For me.My friend Heather from Becoming gave me an award! And it comes with instructions to pass it along to five other bloggers. So, let me share with you five of the many blogs that I like to read: 1. Amy Poppins. Amy is a "real-life" friend who moved from Oregon to Maryland recently, and I love to read her blog to keep up with what her beautiful and busy family of five is up to. 2. Embejo Etc....

The other night I had a dream involving John McCain and Barack Obama. I was in college, and both candidates were trying to take over my dorm room as a campaign headquarters while they were in town. (And I can see why they wanted it, because it was totally sweet, for a college dorm room--WAY bigger than any of the ones I actually resided in during my college years). Barack was polite, and just...

If you've seen me around town lately, let me just offer my apologies. I know I stink. You see, most weekdays I've been trying to find time to exercise at the YMCA. But the childcare center doesn't open there until 9 a.m. It doesn't make sense to me to get up, shower, fix my hair and apply makeup, only to sweat it all off mid-morning. Dear Internet, Did you miss me? You see, it's been a busy week for me. I've got a daughter turning 4, plus I had a birthday myself. It has been quite the whirl of merriment around here, with parties to throw, cakes to make, presents to buy, plays to attend. And so, Internet, there were several days this week when I just didn't have time for you. But you see, you're so appealing to me....

worth a thousandIf you've never been a nursing mom, I could try to describe to you what night-time feedings are like. I could tell you about how some part of the brain you didn't even know you had hears and responds to your baby's cries even when you've been sound asleep; how before you're even really awake you find yourself rolling out of bed and picking her up. How you sink into the chair in the half-light and...

A volume of poetry, bookmarked with a granola bar coupon torn from Sunday's newspaper A perfect pink rose sitting in an empty canning jar The Economist tossed in the magazine basket, buried by Parents and Your Big Backyard A love note tacked to the fridge with a souvenir magnet, partially covered by a crayon drawing of Superman This is life; the meaningful mixes with the messy, the poetry...
