I was cycling home from class last night. I turned the corner and found myself riding behind an older man on his bicycle playing Indian sitar music from a ghettoblaster. The smell of curry emanated from him. He turned back and smiled at me and I got a sense of what those Piped Piper fairy tale kids must've felt when they were enticed from their homes and families. India is calling my name...

I am very pleased to announce the birth of my first niece, Gabriella. She was born on Thursday, July 3 to my brother Ryan and his wife, Simone. They were in Toronto for Simone's sister's wedding and Gabriella decided it was time to make an appearance. She was 6 weeks early and slightly small at 5lbs, but she's doing well. The NY Times did a piece on Portland's gentrification problems, which is an increasing problem in my quadrant of the city. It's nice that the paper finally highlighted something other than Portland as a travel destination....
It was 3 a.m. and while the rest of the party slept, the two of us stayed up and played rummy. We had a mad unspoken crush on one another, but we were both in relationships, and left it at that. Hey, I have a tape that youd probably like. He dug through a shoe box and retrieved a caseless cassette. Outskirts by Blue Rodeo. I cant stand it, so you can have it....
