at my 25 year high school reunion last Saturday.... (Yes, the language is NSFW. We are old and do not care ;) ) "I'll tell you where you can find sympathy...it's between shit and syphilis in the dictionary!" " I don't want to text message people, I need to be with people, I want to SMELL people!" "Sorry, I can't smoke marijuana, even if it is medical. My children can smell hypocrisy a mile away...

Raspberry RippleI finally finished the Indigo Ripples skirt. Since I did not use the recommended denim yarn, I renamed the skirt Raspberry Ripple. Keen observers will note that I messed around with the dimensions of the pattern as well, making the top section longer and eliminating same lace repeats. As much as I hate to admit it, swatching was a very very good thing, as my row gauge was crucial to getting a...

Tiger collographTiger collograph, originally uploaded by knitterkate. It took me about an hour and a half to build the plate for this series of collographs. I used a mat board, duct tape, manila file folders , and masking tape. The printing took about five minutes. Definitely a job for the process-oriented....

Self portrait 2008Self portrait 2008, originally uploaded by knitterkate. My first print project at the Summer Art Institute. Inspired by Andy Warhol's Self Portrait, I etched the sketch on 6" by 6" styrofoam, then did the monoprint series using brayers and ink. If you look at it in the right light, it kind of looks like me...well...maybe if you squint a little....

ClapotisClapotis, originally uploaded by knitterkate. I'm home! I spent the afternoon napping and knitting...finished Grandma's Clapotis. I used 2.5 skeins of Noro Kochoran on size 10 needles and cut out a few repeats as the yarn is bulky. The angora kept getting up my nose, so I knew early on that this wrap was not for me. My grandmother likes to get out for a walk everyday and thought it would work...

I'm off to attend the Maryhill Museum Summer Art Institute. Their focal point of the week will be "Andy Warhol and Other Famous Faces", and I expect to get lots of hands-on experience with printmaking. Between the Salem Art Fair and the Metro Garden Tour, I have lots of inspiration to take with me. No camnesia this time, so will post pics when I return...

Tin Man Garden Art2008 025, originally uploaded by knitterkate. Ornamental bird houses found at the Salem Art Fair and Festival. This is the largest juried art festival in Oregon and a fun outing for the family. Lots of theatre, music, food, and, of course, art for sale. The children's art area is fantastic and Bush's Pasture Park is gorgeous. Hub and I agreed that we need to come back with more time and more...
