This is in response to many of you who have asked for some discussion on the show about Clatsop Community College. I'd like to point out that Coastwatch Call-in is an open forum program so callers may bring up any topic they choose. If you feel strongly about CCC going for another bond election, regardless of how much they are asking for, I would encourage you to call in and bring it up. I also...

A new and different type of plasma arc waste conversion that uses plasma to refine gases produced during waste conversion, rather than to destroy waste by brute force as do other plasma systems, has recently shown itself to be successful on a full commercial scale. PlascoEnergy Group completed a plasma-arc waste demonstration plant in Ottawa, Canada at the Trail Road Landfill, to process 100...

Crider does have skills and he understands the importance of teamwork and transparency in government. This was demonstrated with the sudden appearance of an actual balance sheet. Forget for just a moment...

County Commissioner Jeff Hazen responded to my previous post as a comment but considering the importance of this issue, we offer it as a separate post: I believe it is important to note where the majority of revenues come from when discussing the Health and Human Services dept. For the upcoming year, the total budget for all the funds under HHS is $4,424,190. Of that total, only $615,500 (13....

The County Commission authorized the transfer of about $175,000 from the general fund over to the County Health Department today. They didn't have much choice. State law requires government budgets to be balanced. The imbalance came in key programs that either did not get the state grant they expected or generate the billing they were supposed to collect. This should clean up the financial...
