My mom left this world this morning at 11:24 am. It was a peaceful and painless transition. She had not been doing well since beginning chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer this spring. She was born on September 25, 1926 in Leicester, England, where, during World War II, she met and married by father in 1944. They had a wonderful marriage and loving relationship. According to this AP story, "Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the Nobel Prize-winning Russian author whose books chronicled the horrors of dictator Josef Stalin's slave labor camps, has died of heart failure, his son said Monday. Just got back from our annual week of vacation camping. We have been doing from seven to nine days each year with three other families for over 18 years.
